This is why I love Lactnet! The issue of swaddling has brought discussion
from people all over the world. Pros and cons have been discussed. Issues
that may be of concern, and therefore assessments to make in evaluating a
particular nursing couple when considering swaddling, have been brought
forth.

Each of us practices in our own little environment. I know I tend to get
"stuck in a rut" from time to time and use some of the same approaches over
and over. Lactnet helps me to re-think my practice, consider ideas and
possibilities that I didn't think of or forgot, and continually broaden my
perspective.

My take on this discussion is that swaddling, like any other tool in our bag
of tricks (nipple shields, bottles, cups, finger-feeding, pacifiers, etc.)
can help some babies and interfere with others as they learn to breastfeed
and their mom's learn to parent. There is no "good" or "bad" gadget or
technique. The trick is in learning how to assess and when to use what.

I love Lactnet!
