There is some discussion re: effexor and a question related to production on Dr. Hale's forum site. I'm pasting the site address I copied for that page: http://neonatal.ama.ttuhsc.edu/discus/messages/43/252.html?1090592388

Effexor is not a tricyclic antidepressant so I'm not sure how that would relate to the info about interactions with Vicodin. I tend to be leery when a mother of a young infant is on a narcotic for something such as back pain. Especially if it is something new to her system, its effect could interfere with her ability to care for/respond to her child and may affect how often baby is BF. If something she's been taking for back pain, perhaps now is the time for her to think about a more extensive workup with a specialist and include a discussion of nonnarcotic med options?

Karen
