Talk to me about galactoceles... PTP - My client is in the hospital, originally for mastitis. Pain, fever, redness, warmth, along with plugged duct. Her breast was visibly swollen, and a lump was palpated. Next day (yesterday) -- sono was done and needle aspiration released 100 mL milky fluid from a 7 cm area. Doctor says galactocele... the largest one he has seen, but the mom is still miserable with mastitis-like symptoms and worsening swelling that are not improving with various antibiotics. She continues to pump what she can and attempts to put baby to breast. Mom has a difficult history... in 3 months of breastfeeding mom has dealt with poor transfer, terrible nipple trauma, PTT/ULT revision, subsequent bodywork, clogged ducts, nipple shield (because she could not tolerate the painful latch)... and baby continues to struggle with a crummy suck. And she is determined to continue breastfeeding. What are some potential options for her? Poor momma.
