> For Mothers Who Want to Nurse, Obstacles Abound
> Many Face Resistance Despite Research Pointing to Benefits for Women, Children

> Marisol Tully and her infant son, Joshua, left, participate in a "nurse-in"
> Wednesday in a Santa Monica Mall along with Wendy Merritt and her infant son

This is a wide-ranging article addressing obstacles to breastfeeding
including public disapproval (the Santa Monica nurse-in tie-in as noted
above), WIC role in purchasing and supplying half the formula sold in the
US, lack of pumping facilities, problems getting daycare to understand how
to use and breastmilk, etc. Notes Rep. Carolyn Maloney's legislation
efforts. Quotes Lawrence, Anne Eglash, president of the Academy of
Breastfeeding Medicine, Linda Lange, chairman of the U.S. Breastfeeding
Committee, among others.
