any time".

Hi Brenda - I am not in a hospital setting but wonder how one can defend
bed-sharing in a hospital bed. Do you have research that deals with the
hospital's specific concerns? Does any of McKenna's work deal with that?

What is interesting to me is how there are no legal concerns in the hospital
regarding the routine use of ABM when there is so much research regarding
its risks. The AAP does not speak about the risks of feeding ABM nor about
the research to back that up; maybe that should be its next step.

Would it help to discuss the contrast between those two issues and the
research? Is there any research indicating that bed-sharing in the hospital
bed is unsafe or is it personal opinion? The choice to ignore the proven
risks of ABM feeding and dwell on the bed-sharing risks might be an
eye-opener for the Risk Management Dept.

Of course, it could be that the moms are not sleeping with the baby but are
falling asleep while holding the baby. They can be taught how to do that
safely just in case it should happen. Good luck with your efforts.

Warm regards,

Lee
