I'm glad Heather commented, because she has experience. I will say one thing
which occured to me when describing this mom's interaction ( or lack of) with
her child. It almost sounds like the babies in the old orphanage studies who
were not near the door and got little people interaction failing to thrive. A
mom at wit's end, as was described, might be willing to adapt her parenting to
include trying wearing this baby as much as possible for a time. It won't fix
everything obviously, but it might provide something else this baby is
seriously lacking other than food and normal digestion and it might open the door for
change.
