Boy will your clients miss your IBCLC!  If I were you I would try to get
more OB staff certified and try to get at least one LC on each shift.  I
think IBLCE would agree, the more the merrier.  With all of the media flack
on shortened stays, Lactation Consultants have a small window with which to
promote their services.  Considering the current legislature on it, you
would think postpartum outpatient programs would be expanding in the era of
managed care and insurance companies themselves would be encouraging LC"s to
practice by reimbursing them.  My grama used to say an ounce of prevention
is worth a pound of cure.  That must mean LC's are worth their collective
weight in liquid gold.
