<<<Wouldn't the simplest strategy be to meet with whoever is carrying
out the testing and talk with them about her fluid needs during
breastfeeding? It seems quite harsh that one dilute sample would
extend the period of random testing by six months. Since testing is
random, she can't easily prepare when she is breastfeeding. Surely
there is a way around it - blood tests rather than urine, perhaps?

That said, she should also know that drinking water in excess of
thirst doesn't have a positive effect on production - but it really
isn't feasible for her to be chronically under-hydrated either.

Relationships between parole officers and their parolees are not known
for being open to discussion. Mom tells me she tried to explain the
need for water but they don't care. I am planning to speak to the
parole officer directly and am hoping to have an official protocol to
back me up.

From what mom tells me, she isn't drinking excessively. Just to
thirst. She is aware that too much water could affect her supply as
well. The dilute sample could have been a fluke, possibly she drank
more than usual the night before.

Thank you for the input.
