Trish asked how to respond to misinformation in mothers'
stories. I put on a show. Mother says, "Oh he just
couldn't tolerate my milk and now he's so much healthier!"
Whether they are happy or sad with the result, I gush with
sorrow and sympathy and say, "Oh, I am so sorry you didn't
get good information. That's too bad."
Sometimes they want to know what the heck I meant. So I
get to share. Sometimes they walk away puzzled. I always
get their attention. And they hear that not everyone
endorses the misinformation.
