Ann, this is standard practice in Australia. I think it is two hours 
in the early afternoon (I don't work in a hospital) when no visitors 
are allowed (except maybe partners) and the mothers are allowed to 
rest without interruptions. I don't know if anyone has actually 
researched this, or it just grew out of it being commonsense!
