Too Funny, Jan. I have thought in the past that pacifier use would be the major obstacle in moving to Baby Friendly. Last week I thought "Just stop stocking them in the nursery!" The day is coming, because my manager is firmly behind Baby Friendly. the nurses will have to deal with it........ ~And~ if that MD is right, there should be no pp depression for mothers who use pacifiers. A family told me this morning that the OB Dr recommended the baby be in the nursery overnight so they could sleep, which they did. Baby got formula at 0400. At 8:30 I helped them hold baby skin to skin and he nursed for 5 min on one side, we expressed lovely large colostrum drops and placed on his tongue. I remarked, 'Many families are choosing to room in with their baby during the whole hospital stay."Sheesh!Susan in MN rn icblc
