Hi all,

I'm thinking about compiling a checklist to be used by volunteer
breastfeeding councilors who are answering telephone calls. Once in a
while -too often- we, the volunteers get a call from a mother with a baby
the volunteers suspects is underfed. Despite good perinatal care, (e.g.
almost all women have maternity nurse in- house for 7 days, plus daily
visits from their midwife), this still happens. It seems that many nurses
and midwifes know how to assess if a baby is taking enough milk from the
breast.
To ensure that our volunteers are able to pick out each these babies and
then refer them back to the professional health carers I am compiling a
checklist of the signs of underfeeding at the breast (for whatever reason).
It will be a short and handy checklist, useful for every baby under 4 weeks.
I think there are many of such checklists used everywhere, but my question
is if you have, or are aware of, such a list.
