Does anybody use/recommend using 24 calorie formula for term/near term &/or
SGA babies that need supplementation? I've always thought that the 24
calorie formula was not recommended for otherwise healthy term/near term
babies. The reason I ask is that I've seen several of these babies recently
that are having 24 cal formula ordered for supplementation.

I guess I wonder first, is there any reason to give the 24 calorie formula, and
second, is there a possible detriment to giving this?

These are babies with no other health concerns.

Thanks,

Casey Clubb, RN, IBCLC
West Linn, Oregon
