<< ubject: Re: baby nurseries/being charged for nursery when rooming in >>

I had to get in on this one. When my second daughter was born, 12 1/2 yrs ago,
I wanted to leave within 24 hours after birth. The doctor would not release
her, so I knew in advance that I would have to take her out *against medical
advice*. When my husband went to pay the nursery bill, even though I had 24
hour rooming in, the cashier inquired why we were leaving so soon. My husband
replied *We are checking into the Waldoff Astoria (expensive hotel in NYC), it
was cheaper!!!!!

I always thought it was funny how a few years after I did this the hospitals
realized it was *cost effective* to discharge mothers and babys after 24
hours. Then women had to fight to stay in the hospital longer.
