How about responses such at these?

My mom never put me in a car seat when I was a baby and I survived.
We didn't have car seats when my kids were babies either.  But if I
had a baby today you can bet it would be in a car seat.  And no, I
don't feel guilty for not using one when they were babies.
My babies all slept on their tummies and did not die of SIDS.
Again, we know more now than we did then.  (However, knowing what we

know now, if one had died of SIDS I might be haunted by the question

of whether or not sleeping position would have made a difference.)
