Subject: [LACTNET] Good progress with skin-to-skin

I just wanted to write some encouraging words about our progress. I don't
post to lactnet often, but I do read posts all of the time. All of the
wisdom
and encouragement has really helped. I am by myself in a small town so it is
not always easy to be a one person team and try to make changes. Thanks
and take care.

Christine Lichte, IBCLC
Warrensburg, MO

**How wonderful, Christine! I'm vigorously trying to do something about the
swaddling-and-clock-routine-and-letting-baby cry-it-out drill that is being
agressively promoted right here and now by a lady and an ABM-producer, who
are welcomed in by many organisations... :-( Good, to hear, that you make so
much progress. I think we can try and pay attention to this aspect. If
parents can see the advantages of sts for themselves, it will be easier to
empower them with that sweet and soft cuddling intervention. It promotes
interaction between parents and babies instead of parents and HCW's who want
to be in control with the baby as a daily-routine-disturbing object in
between. Sorry, for my sad discription; I'm very worried about this
development. A baby sts is always such a moving picture and I feel so sad
for the babies that have to miss out on it, because someone figured they
ought to be able to be independent at day 5...

Warmly,

Marianne Vanderveen,
VBN-volunteer and hoping to pass the IBCLC-exam next year, Netherlands
