Jack,
Your advice about looking at the PATIENT, not just the lab reports
reminds me of what I went through with my youngest daughter. A routine
blood test showed an elevated WBC. Further investigations showed a
triglyceride level off the page (in a four month old.) The pediatrician
referred me to the children's hospital where we spent two months putting
this poor kid through the works. In the end, it was found my "high
octane" breastmilk was the cause. My husband teases me that I am half
sea-lion. Yael was perfectly healthy. No infection, gaining weight
beautifully, developing right on schedule.
In hindsight, I should have stopped after the second bloodtest. The
hematologists were so busy with the lab reports, they ignored her needs
and mine. I remember one doctor giving instructions for Yael to fast
12 hours before a test. (Oh sure.) I now understand why so many
people are fed up with conventional doctors and seek natural-minded
health professionals who look at the body - and mind - instead of a
computer screen.
Thanks for continuing to inspire us with your wisdom/
