This was sent to me from a staunch breastfeeding advocate in the
Netherlands. Since she is going to use the information in a professional
capacity, I am crossing my fingers that I won't get in trouble for posting
it (my wrist is extended for a slap if not). Apparently there is not much
info on thrush in the Netherlands:

Our breastfeeding organization "Vereniging Borstvoeding Natuurlijk" in
the Netherlands is holding a conference this year. The organizers want
to include a lecture on "thrush" or "pain in the breast not caused by
breast infection". We think we still don't have a satisfying answer on
it, esp on the treatment. Therfor the organizers asked me if I could
find something on the Internet about this issue. I know you are
involved in LactNet (aren't you?), the mailinglist for LC's. Could you
forward this mail to LactNet?

I have the following questions:

*is this pain allways caused by thrush. Could there be another cause?
*what is the best treament of it?
*what to do if the baby shows signs
of thrush and the mother don't (yet). Some docters here say you don't
have to treat the mother in this case, we think you should do it. Are
there situations in which this is true?

Please response me personally: [log in to unmask]
