I, too, like the word "nursing", yet I use the term breastfeeding to take
the taboo from the word breast. In the US it is so sexualized and people
are uncomfortable using this term. I feel the more it utilized in
breastfeeding, it helps people see this as a normal function of the breast.
I hope I am making sense so early on a Sunday morning.

I'm all for us reclaiming 'nursing'. It's the original term, in terms
of our own langauge tree, and it's the one that then extended its
meaning to other types of nursing. I can understand if you are it the
medical profession, it's harder to reclaim, but I think it's an
important word.

It encompases the warmth and emotional bonding of the process, as much
as the method of feeding. It also brings with it it's own history, and
reminds people this is not a new fangled thing. It's a word of
childhood: Nursey Rhymes, The Nursery, and it's a word of love.

It's a word I use constantly, and hope others will reclaim it too! :-)
