Dear Friends:

I've heard that in Europe, babies in NICU are fed up to 250 cc/kg, whereas
in the US, premies are kept at 160-180 cc/kg because of fear of fluid
overloading. Maybe that's a reason human milk is fortified in the US?
Because babies in NICU aren't fed enough?

And I never understood why a premie would be fed on a 3-hour schedule, when
inside its mother, it was fed continually.

What does the NICU do in Zaire when the baby is a 23-weeker?

warmly,
