Hi everyone,

I am looking for a little help from the lactation community.

Ideally, I would like to formulate a funding methodology for WIC peer
counselors based upon a relationship between:
% of prenatal moms who request a peer counselor; and,
the number of peer counselor contact hours (both prenatal and
postpartum) that are spent with a mother who chooses to exclusive
   breastfeed; and,
the number of peer counselor contact hours (both prenatal and
postpartum) that are spent with a mother who chooses to partial
   breastfeed.

Anyone out there willing to share such data? Chunked down, these variables
are probably all over the board. But from a chunked up perspective, some
trends might be spotted.

I am also looking at the efficacy of peer counselor programs. Does anyone
have any baseline data as to their exclusive and partial BF rates before
initiating a peer counselor program versus the rates after implementing a
peer counselor program? If you could share the number of peer counselor
contact hours that were used to help achieve those rates, that would be
icing on the cake.

I'll share my outcome with anyone who can help me.

As last resort, I could use staffing patterns that medical facilities might
use to hire lactation consultants based upon the number of prenatal
patients in their average census. Does anyone know if such staffing
yardsticks exist?
