It was nice to see that Cindy got the graphic removed off the ADA site. I
am sure they didn't "mean" to promote bottle feeding, but the subtle
message that it is "OK" does come across. I notice it in mainstream
publications/web sites more and more now that I tend to read mostly
non-mainstream press and breastfeeding friendly publications.

For example, my sister has a big urge to get me to ingest more herbs to
improve my fertility, and gave me a magazine that her health food store
passes out. In its article on improving fertility, there was a huge photo
of a mother bottle-feeding a baby, intended, I guess to grab your attention
and fill it with mother love. Instead, it made me skeptical of the whole
article, and think that if these people don't know healthy infant feeding,
could they be all that swift at improving my fertility? Then the section on
men's fertility had an immense baby head sucking away on a pacifier. All
that made me think of was how cute the baby COULD have been if his or her
sucking needs were met at the breast.

I am wondering if these standard "cute" bottle and pacifier photos are
creating more and more negative reactions in viewers, now that the benefits
of breastfeeding are becoming a bit more common knowledge?

Just thinking aloud, and looking forward to seeing many of you at ILCA.
