I am planning a curriculum for independent breastfeeding
classes I plan to teach. One of my major focuses will be
avoiding the pitfalls of early breastfeeding, including
separation of mothers and babies. I know that the one
hospital I have experience with has babies stay past the
mothers discharge when they need antibiotic therapy and
although mothers are allowed to spend time in the newborn
nursery breastfeeding when they choose they are not
usually able to have a bed, etc. I was wondering what
options are offered to families at other hospitals and
what parents can talk to their peds. about to keep mom
and baby together.
