My husband works as a consultant for the water filtration field - he is an
expert who comes in on cases that need particular attention, situations that
are not resolved by the people who are treading the path every day.
Particular situations that need expertise by someone who is trained in a
particular situation.

He has no initials, and makes 5x what I make, he is an expert, a consultant,
someone who is trained to deal with something not working as usual. Hmmm....

Best wishes,

My husband however, regularly uses 'consultants' who are experts in their
field ( such as we) To 'consult' surely means "to ask for advice'.
It follows therefore that we really are 'consultants'. The doctors that I
work with have no such problem with our title and do, regularly, 'consult'
us.
