Don't know whether US
supermarkets still have people who go around and serve taste samples of new
brand foods; we have them here at the busiest stores on the peak weekly
shopping days, but they stick to sandwich spreads and soup mixes and new
cookies and such. I can't even imagine running into competing sales agents
for breastmilk substitutes in the store. (Shows you what a sheltered life I
lead, I suppose!)

Here in Canada, a year or 2 ago I encountered a booth for a "follow-up"
formula in a major Supermarket, manned by a temporary worker. She wasn't
giving taste tests, but was conducting a short survey. I engaged her in
conversation, and quickly realized she was NOT a well-trained permanent
employee, as she went off-track very easily and provided her own opinions
and experience with formula.

I took a couple of snapshots of the booth, which she allowed - but a manager
from the store saw me and threatened to ban me from the store! I sent the
photos to INFACT.
