Dear Lactnetters,

Can anyone help me out here? I'm writing a review on Lisa Amir's most recent
article about smoking and breastfeeding and have been looking for some
additional resources for our BF journal about breastfeeding and smoking. I
came across a Dutch anti-smoking website with information that I believe is
not backed up by any scientific evidence. It is saying that the breastmilk
of smokers is of reduced nutritional value!

I just don't dare go down that road just yet as I have a huge pile or work
that needs immediate attention, but is anyone more knowledgable about this?

Interested to hear from anyone who can provide evidence for or better still
against this statement! I have read the piece in Lawrence about bf and
smoking and there is nothing to back this up (some inconclusive studies
about growth).

Thanks in advance,

Sara Bernard
