It is not an AAP recommendation.  It is MY recommendation for the following 
reasons:
n 
n      Will reduce bilirubin faster
n      Does not expose breastfed infant to whole cow’s milk proteins/soy 
protein (especially if family history of allergies)
n      Tastes terrible – infant will want to go back to breast
n      Very expensive – parents will not want to use it long term
n      Conveys the message that this is a different, temporary therapy, not 
routine formula feeding
