What a heartwrenching thing to go through and still be going through! I
think you should just continue to do what you are doing in a very
'easy-going' way if you can. That is to say, continue to offer the breast at
the sleepy, bf-cue times. If you read thru the post you sent to lactnet you
can clearly see that he has been progressing back to "regular baby and
toddler stuff" from all his trauma/aversion time. So how could it hurt to
keep on doing what a "regular mom" would do, i.e. offering the breast when
you see signs of him needing it? I really couldn't say whether he will take
up nursing again, but I don't think it's time to give up yet. But be easy
about it, realize it may not happen becoz he is going to continue to
progress rapidly developmentally and (like you said) your situation is so
very unique. You are such a wonderful mother to him, how lucky he is to have
you to still keep his options open in case he does want to start up nursing
again.

p.s.I would guess that he has been to a bunch of toddler/older nursling LLL
meetings. Maybe seeing the other nurslings would encourage him. Also does he
have an NG tube or a gastrostomy tube which I think are called peg tubes?
Just wondering because having something still in his nose or mouth would add
to aversion I would think.
