The Breastfeeding Committee for Canada looked at this and came out with a
document:

Breastfeeding Definitions and Data Collection Periods

http://www.breastfeedingcanada.ca/pdf/BCC%20Breastfeeding%20Def%20and%20Algo
rithms%20Jan%2006.pdf

Hope this helps.

Subject: exclusive breastfeeding

I am interested in how other programs are defining breastfeeding amounts. In
my program we are using exclusive, partial, token, and no breastfeeding. I
know that we need to add in other catagories because exclusive breastfeeding
is being used to desribe moms who haven't supplemented in 24 hours.

I searched the archives and did not come up with much, and any help would be
great!

Thanks,

Julia Augur IBCLC, RLC
