i already deleted the post that asked about a reference for 15 ml of
human milk supposedly containing all the immunological factors needed
by a baby. Then just now I was looking up something totally
unrelated in Lawrence and the number "15 ml" jumped off the page at
me. I wonder if this is the reference that was wanted?

Lawrence 5th ed 1999 p. 454:
"A study in Guatemala that was repeated in the special care nursery
of the Rainbow Children's Hospital in Cleveland showed that the
infection rate among sick and premature newborns was greatly
diminished by providing 15 ml of human colostrum contributed by
random donors daily."

Citation: de Carvalho M, Anderson DM, Giangreco A et al: Frequency of
milk expression and milk production by mothers of non-nursing
premature neonates, Am J Dis Child 139:483, 1985.
