From Liz:
I SO, SO agree with you. I am looking at it from a slightly different point
of view. I have an 8 1/2 month old daughter, who will celebrate her first
Christmas this year, and her first birthday in February. No doubt she will
get baby dolls as gifts. And we all know what comes with 98% of the baby
dolls... BOTTLES!!! Even if I ask, I know people will still buy her dolls
with bottles. And, the bottles are going in the trash with the packaging.

A pro-breastfeeding gift:

(For safety the rings are attached with hook and loop closure rather than
sewn in place. [like Velcro])

Liz, Maya Wrap makes a kid sling. When a child is old enough to walk around
with her own baby doll, this is a neat gift. It has to be used well
supervised when they are very young because anything in a loop can be a
strangulation hazard. There was a family at Starbucks the other week and
the mom had a different long wrap around sling for her newborn-I think
called a didymos. http://didymos.de/english/index.php
Their 3 year old blond curley headed son had his teddy on his chest wearing
the same kind of wrap around kid sling. Everybody, including other men in
the place, commented on how cute his teddy looked sticking out like that.
