Before I get really upset with a doctor on the phone, I just want to verify my facts and make sure
I'm not missing something.
Baby born 8lb/6oz, currently 4.5mo and weighs 23lbs exclusively breastfed. Dr. advice is to STOP breastfeeding and offer formula and solids. HUH?
It is my understanding that you can't over feed a breastfed baby..is that true even in a case like this? Also of course formula and solids are not the solution but should mom alter her breastfeeding style? Do you think that would affect weight gain?
Personally I'd like to see a medical workup unrelated to feeding that might disclose why this child gains so rapidly. Certainly it can't just be the fat quantity in the moms milk?
