When my daughter caught lice last year I immediately went out and bought
a "Lice Meister" comb, as endorsed by the National Pediculosis
Association, http://www.headlice.org. The profits go back to the
association for their educational efforts.

I spent a total of three hours over the weekend combing her hair out
(she was loaded with them) and she was squeaky clean to go back to
school on Monday. The school nurse was amazed.

The lice are resistant to just about any poisons out there now, in
varying degrees. The only sure way to get rid of them is to completely
remove them, and that's what the comb does. Unless she has very long
hair, the mom could even comb herself in a pinch, though of course it's
best to have someone else do it. It's very satisfying, in a
back-to-nature kind of way...
