Kathy,
I would not suggest down-regulating her supply because it doesn't sound like
oversupply to me. Here are some suggestions:

a strong anti-inflammatory medicine like ketorolac (sp?) which is has a US
brand name of toradol and requires a prescription in USA, taken around the
clock for several days; a pain medicine for 24-48 hrs until the
anti-inflammatory kicks in; chiropractic adjustment or CST or a similar
modality; possibly a medicine for vasospasm which she may be having an
atypical kind of presentation of that. It sure has some components of
vasospasm, so she could keep heat at the ready to use immediately after bf.
But it also has some symptoms of a "pinched" nerve so she may have an
entrapment or other nerve problem and physical therapy can help.
Hope some of these suggestions will be helpful.
