I may have related this before, it so, sorry for the repeat.
Jeanette's comment about covering clocks reminds me of something I saw many years ago.  I spoke with a new mom and dad on day one ane one thing I tried to impress on them was watching the baby, not the clock.  When I saw her the next day, I noted a towel over a big clock in her room.  I was priding myself on how well I must have made my point and mentioned the towel to her.  My bubble burst when the dad answered, "Well, there are two clocks in the room and they didn't agree with each other, so we covered the one so we wouldn't get mixed up."!
