One option to gently explore with this mom would be donating her
milk to a milk bank as she gradually dries up. It's certainly not
for everyone in that situation, but I know of one mom who found it
very healing to be able to give to another baby or babies as she was
adjusting to the loss of her own child. This mom was able to donate
"long distance". I'm no longer in contact with her, and I don't
remember which bank she sent to. It may be that it was used for
research rather than going to another baby, but it was still a
healing activity for this particular mom.
