Susan,
I would recommend the Susan Love book on breasts. She covers
calcifications/lumps and states they are not a reason to do a mastectomy. Then
this mom needs to carefully shop around for a second opion, from a surgeon in
the area or near by who knows something about breasts and is breastfeeding
friendly. Don't let her go under the knife.
