Lets not judge moms who use "baby buckets". Every baby is different, and
there are actually some babies who do not like the sling! I know, I had one!
She was a very light sleeper and really slept well if she was not disturbed.
As a newborn, she actually seemed to need time in the cradle near our bed, as
opposed to co-sleeping, which we had done with our first and the two kids
that followed her. To this day, she will go in to her bed before the other
kids, and will get upset if anyone disturbs her. She also defied typical
breastfeeding patterns, nursing on demand every 3 to 4 hours while gaining
and thriving. (Our other 3 did not do that!!!!)

The biggest danger with all of these devices is that moms think that they
have to have them!! And we all encounter the mothers that use every
opportunity to not be in physical contact with their babies!! It is hard to
watch moms in stores that are so distant from their little ones. I could
never get enough of holding my little ones, even holding them while pushing a
stroller full of packages, not because they had fussed, but just because I
was driven to hold them!!! I savor every moment of rocking my little
nursing babies because the time flys by.

Too often I see moms with fussing babies who are pushing the stroller or
rocking the baby bucket to comfort the baby! I have almost bitten my tongue
in two, to restrain myself from saying"Why don't you try actually picking up
your baby?" All right, my cat claws are back in! Lisa P. in MI
