Marcia writes "The hardest part is that, here in the U.S. at least, the
judges have a lot of power in these cases and can do just about whatever
they want." And she makes some good points about being cooperative, etc. I
want to add that the reason the judge can do this is becoz the parents COULD
NOT. The parents should try to meet again, IF AT ALL POSSIBLE, and discuss
acceptable (to both) custody arrangements. Obviously, they could not do this
and the judge had to be brought in, but maybe there is the chance of doing
this now. Best of luck to these family members.
