I, too, have fielded questions about this. I contacted the Lactation Study
Center at the University of Rochester School of Medicine to see if they had
anything in their data files (not much on this topic). Since I work
at a university where we have an environmental medical staff I ran
it past them--also without obtaining any data. BTW--the last mom I saw with
this question was not only worried about the chemicals used on her head--she
was concerned about the danger from inhaled chemical fumes (you know how
*heavy* the air can be in beauty shops. I suggested she defer the perm,
given her anxiety, but she had been told not to have a perm while she was
pregnant and felt, now that the baby was *2 weeks old* she couldn't stand to
wait any longer. :-)

I have since wondered about fumes and bf. Any experts want to discuss this
thread?
