Hi Pam,
This is a really common misunderstanding! I've been asked about it many
times because of my interest in relactation.
What the research referred to measured was the amount of milk consumed by
the babies and they found that what the babies drank did not increase
between 1-6 months and then it decreased with the introduction of other
foods. They did not measure production potential and of course it is
possible to increase milk supply if demand is increase *at any time*
