When we visited the Louvre, My husband was the person who was in charge
of the pictures we took and I kept him busy in the Louvre because almost
every picture of mother/child was showing the child at the breast, they

I like to collect postcards and posters from art galleries of Madonna
and
Child classic pictures and others of mother-baby bf. There is a beauty
by
Solaria in the Louvre (The Green Cushion) circa 1510
If one looks at all these pictures one notices that the babies are
positioned so well with good latch-on. There was no NCT, LLL, IBCLC
then
but on the other hand there was probably no viable breast-milk
substitute or
unethical promotion or interference in the birth-place.
Bethlehem is very cold in the winter and the best place for Jesus to be
in
that drafty stable was snuggled up to mother`s breast.
Incidentally there is a village of Bethlehem in the Galilee and there is
a
lot of evidence to show that this was the birth-place of Jesus, and not
the
Bethlehem south east of Jerusalem. If Mary travelled by donkey in the
last
stage of pregnancy, it would have taken many days over rocky mountains
in
difficult weather to get from Nazareth to the latter and that seems
pretty
impossible in her condition. It is also not logical that they would
have
reached that Bethlehem en route to Jerusalem if one looks at the map.The
Galilee Bethlehem is today a short car ride from Nazareth on modern
roads
but at that time it would have also taken a considerable time on a
donkey.
