Dear Trish,

Your story of courage and love brought tears to my eyes; you deserve more
than a few "rah-rahs'" for all that you've been through and how hard you've
tried. My thoughts coincide with Jennifer's about helping your son overcome
his trauma, and though I have no idea about whom she recommends, they, or
someone like them might prove helpful. (I know Tina via phone consults only
and she is wonderful.) Perhaps, he just isn't totally ready to nurse but if
you think he may be beginning to show signs of readiness, then he is. (I'm a
firm believer in mother's intuition and moms knowing their babies best;
especially someone as sensitive as you appear to be.) You've done such a
tremendous job in reconnecting to him-you can certainly be proud of that!

I hope, too, that you have someone(s) with whom you can unload, share and
vent your fears and frustrations as you've been traumatized, as well. It must
have been so painful for you to see your baby so sick so often; I extend my
sympathy, empathy and am in awe of your strength.

Take care and hugs to you and your family.
Barbara Latterner, BSN, RN, IBCLC
