Thanks Karen,

DOB- 2/11/03 BW- 8#14oz Lowest weight 8#6, took at least 2 weeks to
regain--think it was actually day 14 when she was 8#14 again. On 5/7/03 she
was 13# 1 oz. and 13#5 after feeding (she was weighing baby for fun at
support group). On 5/13/03 she weighed again at support group --baby was
13#1.6 oz, but had scales problem (I've been paying attention to the test
weighing commentary closely since). There was a weight with pediatrician in
there somewhere (I don't have a record) perhaps the week before the 7th with
a marginal gain as well. This baby has done this before---plateaued for
several weeks, then made a 10-12 oz jump in gain. We just looked at a 24
recall--baby slept 11 hours! (We already discussed this--evidently dad
turned off an alarm) and nurses 8 times daily--one cluster feed between 2-5
pm. Duration is down frequently to 10 minute feeds, but also has some 20-30
minute feeds as well. Mother documented whether or not she supplemented and
whether or not baby "fought" the breast and the bottle. She used about 1/2
EBM and 1/2 formula. Today she weighed 13#3.4 oz.

Mom offers both breasts, baby self-detaches. Mom is very alert to hunger
cues and thinks "babywise" is an absolute crock. 24 hour poops/pees all
right. I'm glad you mentioned the first baby...this mom did visit LaLeche
and an LC...ultimately went to pumping exclusively with a Classic.
BUT...the discussion re: hormonal factors and larger women might be one that
applies here as well.

What I can tell you is that this is a mom who has determination tatooed on
her heart. She just called while I was answering, and extends her thanks
for the help to Lactnet.
