I want to support Kathy Dettwyler's comments about jury duty. I was
recently called, and it never occured to me to avoid it. I consider it a
civic duty like voting, and take it very seriously. There were over a
thousand other people in the pool that day, and they were dressed in
everything from hot pants to suits. Probably a hundred stood in the line to
be excused. The rest waited patiently to see if they were going to be
selected for a specific trial, and the general mood of the crowd was
respectful of the process.
