Mary,

Moringa oleifera is considered a vegetable in places like the Philippines, where it is also well-known for its galactogogue properties. Traditionally it is used in soups, stir-frys, casseroles, salads... go to GoogleImages and search on "malunggay foods to see how many ways it is prepared. Moringa can also be bought as powdered leaf capsules, which is how women in the U.S. are usually taking it. Moringa is a super-food and is touted in Africa as a cheap and easy-to-grow source of nutrition for pregnant and nursing women and for children. Of all the galactogogues I've researched, I have more studies on moringa (called malunggay in the Philippines) than any other botanical galactogogue; we know that it increases prolactin levels and milk production. Because of its food status, I feel very comfortable with it. The only thing I would add, as I am sure you know, is that women need to address the source of their low supply before using a galactogogue. Sugarpod Organics, one distributor of malunggay, has some of the studies posted here: http://www.golacta.com/go-lacta-studies/.
