Barb:  The main problem with the combined pills appears to be their
tendency to decrease the milk supply, especially when used prior to 6
weeks (but even at other times).  I don't know why the OB wouldn't
prescribe the progesterone-only pills.  They are slightly less effective
for contraception, but only slightly.  They have more irregular bleeding
but otherwise no more serious side effects.  However, as noted in
previous lactnet discussions, there have been some anecdotal situations
of decreased milk supply even with progesterone-only products.  Alicia.
