To the best of my knowledge, hospitals are discouraging parents from putting
birth announcements into the newspaper. It is printed in our security for
infants paper that parents are given during prenatal classes and upon
admission to the hospital. The parents are asked to fill out a form if they
want to have it published. The hospital where I work has done it this way for
at least 15 yrs.
