Re: Longterm Domperidone use

From a personal perspective, I have been taking Domperidone for 8 months now
and have plans to continue longterm. I spent alot of time researching it
and all of the information I found concerning long-term use was for
gastrointestinal usage. There seemed to be no long-term issues that I could
find. While I could not make that decision for any other mother, I made the
decision for myself to continue taking it as long as necessary because the
benefits to my daughter far outweigh any possible side effects for me. I
began taking it when my daughter was 9 months old and have tried to wean off
of it several times with a definite drop in milk production as evidenced by
weight loss in my daughter. I have had problems with weight gain since I
have been on it, despite working out several times per week and eating a
healthy diet.

I do not like taking medication daily but I have tried every herbal remedy I
could find and nothing has worked as well as domperidone. Our milk supply
issues are directly related to my daughters poor suck due to hypotonia
secondary to Kabuki Syndrome.
