Debbie, what kind of pump is she using, and is she setting suction too high?
I have seen this in moms who turn suction to "maximum" thinking they will get
more milk out; it appears that the suction causes capillaries to burst. Of
course, the blood in the milk will do no harm to baby, but it certainly looks
unappetizing to us! Also, if mom is using a semiautomatic pump, is she
cycling infrequently (or at all?); I've seen this also cause bleeding in the
past, especially before the better purchasable pumps came on the scene and
moms tried to use the small electric pumps for RTW.
